Here’s a quick update on this morning’s Breakout Alert.

At 9:00am, our alert went out and NanoViricides, Inc. (NYSE American: NNVC) was trading at $1.23. It climbed to $1.33 around 9:55am for a potential gain of 8.1%. It has since pulled back.

There’s also news out this morning worth looking at. The company announced that it’s preparing a Phase II trial of NV-387 as a measles treatment, and here’s the part that matters for investors: the FDA has already granted NV-387 a Rare Pediatric Disease Designation for measles.

This means that if the drug is eventually approved, that designation makes the company eligible for a Priority Review Voucher. Those vouchers get sold to larger pharma companies, and one recently went for $195 million.

That’s a meaningful number for a company this size and it adds another compelling layer to the story.

Today’s breakout alert is NYSE American: NNVC. 

NanoViricides, Inc. (NYSE American: NNVC) is a clinical-stage biotech leader working to develop antiviral drug that viruses cannot escape.  

The company’s lead candidate, NV-387, is built to work against a range of viruses rather than a single strain, which is a meaningfully different approach from most antivirals on the market.

Here’s where it gets interesting. The company received regulatory approval earlier this month to begin a Phase II clinical trial of NV-387 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, targeting the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. There is currently no approved therapy for that strain, and the WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern in May.

For a company this size, an approved trial against a virus with no existing treatment is the kind of setup that can change the story in a hurry.

NNVC is also running a Phase II trial for mpox in the DRC and has filed for Orphan Drug Designation with the FDA on multiple indications.

To summarize: We’re talking about a clinical-stage biotech trading for less than $1 with an approved Phase II trial, a global health emergency as the backdrop and multiple shots on goal.

We flagged NMTC (Nasdaq: NMTC) at $2.15 this morning at 8:55 AM ET — and it’s already hit a high of $3.16, a gain of roughly 47%.

Adding fuel to the move: NeuroOne Medical Technologies just announced the successful completion of three large-animal procedures using its next-generation StereoCED™ platform. The company reported that in two of the three procedures, its drug delivery electrodes both delivered a study agent directly into targeted brain tissue and recorded intracranial electrophysiological activity from the same region — something NeuroOne says hasn’t been previously demonstrated. The results build momentum toward the company’s planned launch of StereoCED™ for human investigational clinical studies later this quarter.
